1929 Press Photo Aviator Captain Albert Stevens Attempts Altitude Record Flight For Sale

1929 Vintage Press Photo by INTERNATIONAL NEWS.Captain A.W. Stevens, who with Lt. Harry Johnson, Air Corps Pilot flew to an indicated height of 39,000 feet where the temperature was 76 degrees below zero. The fliers, who are stationed at Wright Field, narrowly missed the altitude record and then lost all change for official claim to it by being forced down at Columbus, Ohio by lack of gasoline.
