This is a charming French Painted Porcelain Trinket Box or Jewelry Box.

Size is approximately 6" long, 4" wide, 2.5" tall.

Handpainted floral and gold decorations over a black background and white porcelain. Gilt hinge and closure.

This appears to be a piece from 1700-1800s Nevers, France, based on the blue handpainted mark on the bottom - the only matching reference mark we could find was attributed to Jacques Seigne, Nevers France (per 1894 Porcelain Marks Guide by Hooper and Phillips London New York). Price has been adjusted lower to account for uncertainty of origin.

Condition:

Overall good, closes and opens smoothly. Minor paint loss and wear in multiple spots, one pinhead-sized chip or paint flake missing in lower right front. Please review photos closely.
