Hamilton Artcraft Watch USVI Local 611 International Union Operating Engineers For Sale

As described in the title and shown in the photos this is a working-keeping good time, approximately 6.5 mm thick x 34.4 mm wide (sans crown) x 38.9 mm long watch with 28 mm lugs made by the Hamilton Artcraft division. It is gold plated with a stainless steel snap back and has an ETA  955.114 Seven Jewel quartz movement.

There is surprisingly little information about Hamilton Artcraft on the net but the movement seems to have gone into use in the 1980\'s and no information on when production ended. Interestingly, while this is an ETA movement from the Swiss Swatch group, who now own the old American brand, there is no country of origin marked on the dial, case or movement which might mean it was assembled from Swiss parts at an unknown location.

The dial is marked \"International Union of Operating Engineers/Organized Dec. 7. 1896/Labor Omnia Vincit.\" The bottom of the dial is marked \"Hamilton Artcraft.\" An impressed stamp on the back states \"Virgin Islands Workers Union/Local 611/HERE St. Croix St. Thomas St John.\" The back is marked \"Hamilton 9812U - Base Metal Bezel - Stainless Steel Back - Water Resistant.\"

It is in good used cosmetic condition and presents nicely even though we have done nothing to it but replace the dead battery. It will need a new ring seal, cleaning and buffing. Closer examination will reveal some hard to see scratches on the mineral glass crystal, some high point brassing especially around the back near the crown and to the crown itself. The dial and hands are nearly pristine. It currently has an old and appropriate Speidel plated band with moderate wear that works well and should fit a medium man or larger woman\'s wrist.

We have witnessed it keeping good time for the last few days but like all old watches we sometimes sell, it is sold as-is, as-found and without promises or warranty of any kind. It seems like a restorable watch that already looks pretty good as it is.
