Northwest Coast Indian Polychrome Trinket Basket with Lid - Nootka or Makah:

This large Nootka or Makah basket has a very fine weave with polychrome colors of dark purple, pale yellow, tan and dark purple-red. The size is 3" high by 5 3/4" across. The lid fits nicely and this vintage basket is in excellent condition.

The Makah Tribe has called the spectacular Neah Bay, Washington area home to the Makah Reservation since time immemorial.The Nootka were known for being the only whale hunters in British Columbia.
