Pottsville is the “gateway to the anthracite coal region” and county seat of Schuylkill County, PA. Founded in 1806 by John Pott, first defenders helped save Washington from invasion on April 18, 1861. In 1956, Pottsville was an important coal producing region and a trading area for 200,000 people. Also a manufacturing center for textiles, clothing and shirts. It is the site of the nation’s first monument to Henry Clay. 1950 population was two 23,640 people. Pattern featured on the plate was designed by Bob Bader. Made in U.S.A. by Kettlesprings Kilns RD #1 Alliance, Ohio. Plate number S72S. Great condition. Thanks for looking!
