Purdue University Bookends - set of 2 - 5 1/4" x 4" - Gryphon Crest For Sale

I got this at an estate sale and was told it was a gift given to an alum.They each measure 3/4 inch thick. 4 inches across, and about 5 and a quarter inches high (not counting the bottom piece which the books rest atop of, which is 4 inches long. See photos.The verdigris makes me think its brass, or copper (or some metal which can have this issue) but I am uncertain what it is. I can state they weigh nearly 3 pounds (2 pounds and 14.3 ounces on my scale).
