Rare Victorian Japanesque Aesthetic Period Electric Kerosene Oil Lamp Base 1870s For Sale

Just out of a local smoke free house is this rare 1870's Victorian kerosene oil lamp. The lamp was made in the Aesthetic style with Japanesque influence. It has an electrified kerosene font marked The New Rochester. It was electrified many years ago and has a 4 inch ring mount for a shade. This could easily be changed with a spider for a 10 inch shade if desired. The body has a copper finished woven basket weave design decorated with crabs and bamboo accents. The body is mounted on a brass base with acanthus leaf feet. It measures about 13 inches tall and about 9 3/4 inches at its widest. Although the lamp was converted to electrics many years ago they still work well. But we always suggest that the electrics be checked before using with lamps that have old electrics. The lamp is in good condition with some dents and dings on the copper finished basket weave body and the base has an old repair that does not show in normal use.
