ARTIST INFO: This amazing duck shaped jug is made by master ceramist Pablo Pajarito. He is one of the best potters in Mexico, with his works shown in museums in Mexico and throughout the world. He creates his ceramics at his kiln and hand paints each and every piece. He either signs his work or is now using his new stamp or uses both. The clay is known as Barro Canelo because of the similarity to the color of cinnamon. Also known as odor mud, its origin is that of containers to conserve fresh water. One way to know if it is authentic is to stick your lips and these will stick to the mud. The Pajarito family has contributed to Mexican ceramics/pottery for many, many generations. Pablo's father Nicasio taught his 5 sons, continuing this amazing craft, which is now found in museums throughout Mexico, USA and Europe.
