Very Rare, Early Antique OUTDOOR Carte de Visite Photo of NEW BOSTON MASONIC TEMPLE
DESCRIPTION: Particularly nice, original rare antique outdoor Carte de Visite from my collection of early antique outside building photos. Early outside shots are always nice generally, and this one is particularly nice. Identified as the New Masonic Temple. Also hand written in pencil is Boston and Aug. 3, 1868 (on the reverse).
Carte de Visite photos were popular during the Civil War, both by officers and military men, and also by civilians. Carte de Visites were the most popular format during the war years, and including military and political leaders and other subjects in your CdV album was very popular. This was the best way to collect and display them, not having the various other methods we have today.
THIS WAS CLEARLY A NICE SHOT OF AN IMPORTANT NEW BUILDING IN THE CITY!
This one is very clear, in excellent condition. Standard CdV measurements.
