Antique 19th Century Ceramic Woman Bust Partially Glazed Floral Folk Art For Sale

Antique 19th-century ceramic bust depicting a woman, constructed as a hollow sculptural form with a distinctive combination of rough, unglazed ceramic and partially glazed decoration.

The lower portion of the bust is finished in a white glaze with olive-green floral and foliate decoration, while the face, hair, neck and upper chest retain a coarse matte surface. The figure has modeled facial features and swept-back hair or head covering. The back of the head has a large recessed circular area, and the underside has an original opening associated with the hollow construction.

Condition shows substantial age and surface wear, including extensive crazing to the glazed areas, glaze losses/chipping, abrasions, discoloration, small losses and irregularities throughout.
