This is an amazing antique handmade textile work just after the First WW. Likely make in 1918 or so, it was made in France to celebrate the Armistice. It is a pillow cover, there is no slip to put a pillow into, it was just meant to be placed over the top of a pillow which was common at that time.
The base of the pillow is silk and somewhat fragile. There is some shattering on the backside, one area is pictured for you. The front has exquisite needle work throughout with both the French and American Flags crossed over one another and the Bald Eagle with a shield at the lower portion of the pillow. It says, "Souvenir De France". The outside border is stem stitched in dark brown stitching with leaves. There is also ribbon work down throughout the pillow.
The outer border is an antique scalloped lace which is 4" in width. I do see damage to the lace, some of which I pictured for you.
This would look so wonderful framed and preserved!
