Item Overview:This is an authentic, hand-embroideredShoowa Kuba clothfrom the Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Often referred to as "Kasai Velvet," these textiles are world-renowned for their complex geometric patterns and unique plush texture.Craftsmanship:
Each panel is a labor of love, taking several months to complete. The process is a collaborative tribal effort: men harvest and weave the base raffia cloth, while women perform the intricate embroidery. The "velvet" effect is achieved by cutting the embroidery threads very short, creating a soft, tufted surface.Pattern & Symbolism:
The design features a classicDiamond Motif, a hallmark of Kuba artistry. These patterns are typically improvised by the artist, making every single panel a one-of-a-kind piece of African heritage.Usage Ideas:
- Wall Art:Frame it or hang it as a centerpiece to add a soulful, tribal touch to your interior.
- Home Decor:Perfect size for a high-end accent pillow cover or a table runner.
- Collectibles:A must-have for lovers of ethnic textiles and African art.
