The 96th Omsk Infantry Regiment is an infantry military unit of the Russian Imperial Army .

The regiment was formed on May 17, 1797, consisting of two battalions, under the name of the 3rd Jaeger Regiment; on October 31, 1798, the regiment was named after its chief, Major General Gvozdev , and on March 29, 1801, it was named the 2nd Jaeger Regiment and was made up of three battalions.
