Notes:In 1890, George W. Reed, a member of the PacificCoast Amateur Photographeric Association expelled for selling his Photographers of the Golden Gate on a royalty basis, formed the California Camera Club. The Club was open to all who were interested in Photographery, both amateursand professionals. It provided them with a large darkroomand portrait studio, arranged monthly outings to enrich itscorpus of “the finest California scenic views,” and put forthits own Photographery journal––The Pacific Coast Photographerer from 1892-1894 and Camera Craft thereafter.
TheClub would grow to become the largest Camera Club in theUnited States by 1900, recording 425 active members in thesame year.
