The Vintage 1930s Silex 8 Cup Glass Electric Vacuum Coffee Maker is a rare and collectible kitchen appliance that is a testament to classic American craftsmanship. It comes complete but somewhat untested. It was plugged in and it did turn on, however it admitted a burning smell, so I quickly unplugged it. However that is very promising. It has the original upper and lower glass bowl, glass pump/stem, metal filter assembly, electric heating unit, original handle and cord, and the original Silex identification label. It does have some obvious signs of age-related wear, but considering its age I would say it’s in great shape. Even if it doesn’t work, it is an eye-catching conversation piece.
