Vintage Goebel M.I. Hummel figurine, “Just Resting” (HUM 112/I). A young girl in a coral babushka and blue-green dirndl skirt sits atop a rustic split-rail fence, her wicker basket set on the ground beside her, coral blossoms trailing along the rails. Hand-painted in soft matte tones on an oval base. Incised “M.I. Hummel” signature to the back of the base; underside marked “© W. Goebel,” incised “Germany,” and mold number. Height approx. 5”. Designed by Reinhold Unger, introduced 1938. The companion piece is “Wayside Harmony” (HUM 111), the boy on a similar fence.
