Vintage Southern Arizona Tribe Miniature Lidded Basket with Buckskin Ties For Sale

This is an exceptional early-to-mid 20th-century Native American miniature lidded basket, attributed to the Tohono O'odham tribe. It is crafted from yucca leaves intricately woven with contrasting dark root fibers to establish a subtle alternating geometric design. The core is constructed from desert bear grass. It is made of closed-coil construction utilizing an exceptionally fine, non-interlocking stitch and a four-square plaid block center start on both the container base and the lid. It features its original, intact raw leather/buckskin tie down loops. Dimensions: 3.5" H x 2-7/8" diameter. Condition: Excellent, investment-grade vintage condition.
