This canteen is selling as found. It is dented and beat up as pictured. The coolest part is the etched writing on it denoting the soldiers unit and the year. I’ve included a brief Google history of the history of the 29th Ordance and their very important role in WW2 .

The 129th Armored Ordnance Maintenance Battalion was a specialized maintenance and supply unit of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as an integral component of the 7th Armored Division ("Lucky Seventh")

World War II ServiceActivation: Formed in California in 1942, utilizing personnel and resources from reorganized armored divisions.

Landed in France in August 1944 and supported combat operations across France, the Netherlands, Belgium (including the Ardennes/Battle of the Bulge), and Germany.

Mission : Kept combat vehicles operational, supplied ordnance material, and evacuated damaged equipment right behind the front lines.

Notable Feat: Company B of the battalion notably captured and restored a rare German Panzer VI Tiger II ("King Tiger") tank to running condition in Gereonsweiler, Germany, in December 1944.

Structure: Consisted of a Supply Section, an Inspection Section, and Companies A, B, and C, under commanders including Lt. Col. George E. Hughes.
