In1931, Belle Terre incorporated itself as a village.

TheBelle Terre Club was destroyed in a fire in 1934, the same year as the pergolaswere deconstructed due to the financial burden of their upkeep. Due to a lapsein insurance coverage, the clubhouse was never rebuilt although a new countryclub opened in the Port Jefferson section of the Mt. Misery peninsula in 1956.
