Bruce's Sword - Medieval One-Handed Sword with Scabbard Bruce's Sword - Medieval One-Handed Sword with Scabbard

Named in honor of Robert I of Scotland (1274-1329), commonly known as Robert the Bruce , this one-handed sword is not a reconstruction of this famous Scottish warrior’s weapon, but rather a tribute to his great deeds and legacy. In 1314, after years of campaigning against the English crown, King Robert defeated the army of Edward II of England at the Battle of Bannockburn, a decisive battle that ultimately led to the restoration of Scottish independence. Like the legendary William Wallace, Robert the Bruce remains one of Scotland’s most celebrated historical figures to this day.

This one-handed decorative sword features a double-edged EN45 spring steel blade with a long, wide handle. The edges are not sharp and the full tang of the blade is threaded into the pommel. The grip consists of a slightly downward curved crosshead, a thick octagonal pommel (Oakeshott type I1, more popular in the 14th century) and a central wooden grip elaborately bound in braided brown leather.

The guard and pommel are made of solid brass and feature bright red enamel details. While the ends of the hawk are adorned with crosses, the pommel features the so-called lion rampant (a heraldic representation of an erect lion with its forelegs raised as if to strike a blow) that is very reminiscent of the coat of arms of King Robert I of Scotland: a rampant crimson lion on a yellow background.

This tall medieval knight’s sword comes complete with a brown wood and leather scabbard with two brass rings.

Please note that this medieval sword is not a battle-ready weapon. It is designed as a collector’s item or decoration/display piece and is not suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as an accessory, for example, to complete your costume, and will make your transformation into a proud knight or noble king simply length: approx. 96.5 cm.
