Up for sale is a copy of an ORIGINAL and HISTORIC Civil War Era Newspaper the \"The New York Daily Tribune\" dated Friday, June 20, 1862. Read first hand what was happening in the US a little over 1 year after the official start of the Civil War (April 12, 1861-May 9, 1865).
It is a large 6 page (12 pages front and back) newspaper measuring approximately 16\" x 21\".
The paper covers some important historical news including the following articles \"FROM FORTRESS MONROE - THE APPROACHING BATTLE - REBEL LIES - SECESSION WOMEN\", \"FROM GENERAL MITCHEL\'S ARMY\", \"YANKEE EDITORS IN NEW ORLEANS\", \"REBEL VIOLENCE IN FREDERICKSBURG\", and \"MARSHALL LAW IN EAST TENNESSEE\". It also includes news on the stock exchange, some advertisements, business notices, marriage notices, obituaries, shipping notices, military notices, want ads, for sale, professional notices, lists of unclaimed merchandise, and much, much more!
The paper is in Good- Condition. There is wear to the paper - there are many creases and tears along the edges. There are a number creases and in the middle of the editorials, as well. The over 150 year old paper also suffers from some staining, foxing, browning, spotting and type fading. The corners are folded.
This is an incredible chance to read about our countries history on the original day it was reported! A great opportunity for any collector or history buff to own a true piece of American history!
