♠2nd Marines, 2nd Marine Division Automatic Rifleman Leslie Eugene Davison’s World War II USMC Pistol Belt.

♠Leslie Eugene Davison was born on June 10, 1925 in Summerdale, Alabama. He enlisted in the Marines in November 1943.

♠Private First Class Leslie Davison was a Automatic Rifleman in Company “B”, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines, 2nd Marine Division.

♠Leslie fought on Tinian from July 27 - August 10, 1944. He was then deployed to Saipan for the mopping up duties of hunting down Japanese soldiers that hid in caves by day and attacked American troops at night. He remained on Saipan until December 11, 1944.

♠After World War II, Leslie rejoined the service on October 9, 1946 as a Corporal in the Army. He was a Light Weapons Infantryman in HQ Company, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment of the 7th Infantry Division.

♠Corporal Leslie Davison fought in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir in the Korean War with the 31st Regimental Combat Team where he was severely wounded by an enemy missile and later died.

§Stenciled on the interior of the WWII USMC brass buckle Pistol Belt is "Davison, L. E."

§Leslie bleached his Pistol Belt when he joined "A" Company, Sixth Military Police Battalion in 1945. Very faded and faintly stenciled "U" and illegible "SMC" on the belt interior.

§An interesting historical detail is that Leslie was friends with Raymond Lloyd Decatur, a 5th Marine Division Machine Gunner who, after being wounded on Iwo Jima, was also transferred to "A" Company, Sixth Military Police Battalion. As documented in USMC Muster Rolls (included in the Soldier Story), Leslie and Raymond were in "A" Company, Sixth Military Police Battalion, from May 1945 until October 1945. These two traded field gear because items of theirs would be located at the same source years later.

§This is an authentic item and not a replica. Please refer to the pictures of this antique for visual details and to determine its condition.
