RARE Paris France DECO 1940's Moulin Rouge MONTMARTRE Barkcloth Vintage Fabric For Sale

Incredible...unheard of relic from days past! I have never seen this iconic print before...but it has many unique entities that determine its age and origin...the particular use of textured barkcloth is a very 1950's styling...the mottling use of gray and white as the ground suggests background movement...something not done until the more modern practices that came along in the 50's. which is all you really need to know to determine this textile came out around the same time Moulin Rouge the movie by Britannica by John Huston and starring Zsa Zsa Gabor and Jose Ferrer. Depictions of 1890's Paris nightclub. It is done in poster form as if poster printed on textile. A definite souvenir and one to behold for collectors. I have a much larger one that is a full yard long that I framed in a hot pink frame with creamy charcoal gray matting. It's fabulous.
This offering is for ONE unused possibly washed salesman sample....a textured thick and nubby barkcloth...a ground of white with creamy charcoal gray mottling...the graphics are amazing in orange black and white accents. If I had to guess...this fabric was created to be framed as fabric posters in relation to the Moulin Rouge Show circa 1952. Expect wonderful...rare as can be...something you won't see again. Clean...stored and protected well over the course of the last 70 years. It has a fragrance which is why I am not sure if it was washed...it otherwise has all the makings of unused old stock. Measures 24 inches wide x 22 inches long. Flawless.
