This specimen collected from the east side of Mactan Island, east of Cebu Island, Philippines. It has a distinctive shape with a flattened fin at the uppermost part of the coiling; according to WoRMS, this species is included in the family Zebinidae, not in the family Rissoellidae. This small shell is found in the seas around Japan to Taiwan and was described by Lan (2003) in the Journal of the Taiwan Shellfish Society in 2003, but it is not well known in Japan and was finally included in the second edition of the Pictorial Guide to Shellfish from the Seas Around Japan (2017). The species name Oshikatai is a dedication to Mr. Oshikata. The species was discovered in the Philippines by Dr. Poppe et al. of Conchology.This specimen is a beauty in good condition with no major chips, despite its large size (over 7 mm).
