Vtg. Geo B Carpenter & Company. Barometer, Hygrometer.? For Sale

The item is sold as is, as found, and as you see it. The sale is for a maybe a barometer or hygrometer from Geo B Carpenter & Co. from Chicago, Il. Geo B Carpenter & Co. were manufacturers/distributors of general supplies and equipment for railroads, steamships, contractors, mills, mines, power plants, machine shops and all forms of industrial activity. I'm not sure if this item was something they produced for the public to purchase or was an advertisement actually displayed in place of business. Item seems quite old. The fce is glass. Metal framing around; dont know the metal. It has a rough texture and painted black. Black residue on glass near the edging, may have been repainted many years ago, as found. Advertising face could be a paper material, I assume. Has some staining on paper and dirty with age and loose dirt inside. It says it was from 430/440 Wells St., Chicago. I cant say exactly how well it workds. It stays in the 80 range but saw it go up to 90 so it will go up. Theres rust in part of the metal framing under paint. Theres rust in the middle and pitting under the glass before the face in the framing. Glass will have scratches, more so on the edges, less in center. The backside has a hook for hanging and three feet. It will have paint drips and age on backside. Could be considered a part of Chicago history. Under the glass, silver metal frame that can have pitting. See all pics for they are part of description. May have other issues not mentioned but mentioned most significant. Measures 5 7/8" X 1.5" X 5 1/8" where glass is.
