WWI CHAPLIN'S ANTIQUE BATTLEFIELD ST. BENEDICT EVIL & DANGER PROTECTION CROSS For Sale

This antique cross is from my mother's estate collection(Bertha, the founder of Church Woman Antiques), and it is on sale to benefitseveral Carmelite Convents she selected before her death at age 97. It is 1.5inches square and was cast from bronze. A small catch of these antique crosseswas discovered at a Carmelite Convnet in Germany 50 years ago, and my motheracquired the entire lot for her private collection. This one was worn duringWWI by the Chaplin in the photos, and the winner may get a digital copy upon request.

This medallion is shaped like a Greek cross. On one side is a picture of theBattle of Lichfield, 955 A.D., above the inscription 'CRUX/S/VDALRICI' (crossof St. Ulrich), on the other side is St Benedict between Saints Ulrich andAfra, with the Trinity above, and the shield of St Benedict below. The St.Benedict & St. Ulrich cross was considered in the 18th century veryeffective against plagues caused by of mice.
