Each slab is polished and epoxy clear coated on one side to enhance its beauty and measures about 1 ½" - 1 ¾ ". ThePETOSKEY STONEis a variety of calcite formed by the fossilization of ancient coral. These stones are found on many beaches of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan as well as in rock quarries from Traverse City to Alpena. It is the Official State Stone of Michigan. These stones are polished on one side and the other side has been left in its natural state (The last photo shows the stones on the unpolished side.) The stones vary in size, but most are about ½"-1¾"L x 1"W.
