Co-founderElwood Hayneschanged the name of the company to the Haynes Automobile Co after fellow co-foundersElmerand Edgar Apperson left to form theAppersonBrothers Automobile Company in 1901. The Haynes company was declared bankrupt in 1924 and went out of business in 1925.
