Palmer (Walter Walker Palmer), who was the first full-time professor of medicine at Columbia University and Physician-in-Chief at Presbyterian Hospital. • Content: A warm, personal typed letter congratulating Dr. Palmer on his engagement to Miss Gilder. Flexner mentions his wife, Anne Crawford Flexner (a noted playwright), who was traveling through Spain and Algiers with the "ex-President of Bryn Mawr" (M.
