Vintage acrylic paperweight commemorating first oil production from the Maureen Field in the North Sea.
This distinctive cylindrical paperweight features a suspended glass capsule containing a two-tone hydrocarbon sample, with a translucent amber-brown upper section and a much darker lower section.
The original inscription reads:
“MAUREEN FIELD
FIRST OIL”
The paperweight also displays the period Phillips Petroleum 66 shield and the familiar red-and-yellow Shell emblem.
An unusual piece of North Sea oil and gas history, ideal for collectors of offshore memorabilia, petroleum-company items, encapsulated oil samples or vintage corporate paperweights.

CONDITION
Pre-owned vintage condition with surface scratches, scuffs, light discolouration and handling or storage marks consistent with age. There may also be small internal bubbles, marks or natural manufacturing imperfections within the acrylic and around the encapsulated sample.
The paperweight remains a distinctive and attractive display piece. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description and show the exact item you will receive.
Every paperweight offered, whether supplied with its original presentation box or not, will be placed inside a clear protective polythene bag, followed by a clear bubble-wrap bag. It will then be packed in a new die-cut cardboard box, which may also be retained for safe storage of the item. This box will be placed inside additional protective outer packaging for secure posting.
