284g Apex Shaft Ore - Silver Galena, Topaz, Fluorite Wolframite, Zinnwaldite : $125.00
A Heavyweight Apex Shaft Marvel Up for grabs is an exceptional, dense, 284-gram multi-mineral ore specimen sourced from the historic Apex Shaft at the legendary Einstein Mine (Silver Mines) in Madison County, Missouri. This piece has been expertly lapidary-prepared with a precision-cut base, allowing this heavy chunk of Missouri geology to stand perfectly on its own for premium display. A Choked, Mineral-Rich Matrix This is not your standard, light-colored Silver Mines greisen. The quartz and topaz matrix of this piece has been completely "choked" and heavily saturated by deep, dark Zinnwaldite mica and massive, heavy Wolframite (tungsten ore). This gives the host rock a stunning, dark, metallic contrast. Cutting violently through this dark matrix is a bright, white hydrothermal Quartz vein, flanked by localized, glassy pockets of Fluorite. Precious Metals & Sulfides Scattered heavily across the display face and woven into the quartz are brilliant, flashing clusters of gold-colored Pyrite. If you examine the top edge of the specimen, you will also find localized deposits of Argentiferous Galena—the very silver-bearing lead ore that originally drove miners deep into the St. Francois Mountains. Looking at the cut base reveals even more dense, solid black Wolframite crystallization. This incredible piece comes directly from the highly esteemed Cox Collection, representing true old-school, old-stock Missouri rockhounding at its finest. It has been extensively cleaned and is ready for a showcase. Specimen Details - Dimensions: 3.75" x 2.5" x 1.185"
