Antique late-19th-century photograph album containing approximately 45 original photographs, appearing to document a family and aspects of rural / homestead life during the 1890s to around the turn of the century.The collection has wonderful period subject matter including log cabin structures, rural homes and settings, women and children, infants, elaborate antique baby carriages/prams, a period bicycle and everyday family life. No automobiles appear in the collection. The clothing, hairstyles, structures and objects pictured are consistent with a late-1800s to turn-of-the-century rural family archive.Several of the larger photographs are particularly striking, including a family portrait posed outside a rustic log structure and scenes featuring children with ornate period baby carriages.The small green cloth-bound album features gold “Photographs” lettering on the front and retains its original interior “Ward’s Dark Leaf Albums” label. The album measures approximately 8” wide x 6” tall. Individual photographs vary in size, with some of the larger examples measuring approximately 5” x 4”.There are approximately 45 photographs total. The photographs have been left together in the album as found and have not been removed, cleaned or restored.The album and photographs show genuine age. Expect fading, toning, wear and other imperfections consistent with an antique collection well over a century old.
