Up for sale is an exceptionally beautiful, museum-quality piece of early American shaving history: an authentic first-generation Gem Cutlery Co. "Lather Catcher" Safety Razor frame.Founded in 1898 by former Kampfe Bros. employee Jerry Reichard, Gem Cutlery produced some of the finest shaving implements of the Victorian era. This deluxe, early-production model features a striking brass head adorned with ornate Victorian scrollwork engraving and a premium, dark turned rosewood/ebony wood handle in excellent condition.Distinct Historical Stamping & Markings:

Back Shield: Beautifully engraved with "Gem Cutlery Co.", "Gem Safety Razor", and "New York, U.S.A."
Clamping Guard: Explicitly stamped with "Pat. Dec 2/98" (U.S. Patent) and "Eng. Pats Dec 27/98" (British Patent).

Mechanical Feature:
This model utilizes the classic early pivot-clip and central thumb-screw tension knob mechanism to lock down a heavy steel wedge blade.Condition:
The razor is in excellent antique condition with a stunning natural brass patina. The dark wood handle is structurally sound, entirely solid, and free of any splits or cracks—highly remarkable for organic material over 125 years old.
