These are personal letters not business.
3 letters April 17th from PaPa April 18 from Brother Harry and last May 1st from PaPa. All on the year 1898.
Letter dated April 17 from PaPa is a 4 page letter.
Mentions renting a room for $16.00.
Wrote about Harry the sickly brother.
And someone named Bradly shot a man.
The Klondike Rush, an avalanche on Sheep’s Campfire buried a great number and 50 recovered and never be known how many were lost.
A Torpedo boat was put in the water and will be in shape for ( buis) business? And is needed now as all is war. ( The Spanish American war.)
Police Roberts was shot on 18th east of Jefferson. Haven’t got their man yet and doubtful if they do.
They have commenced to cut fraut? Street Hill to Belletown. ( For the Denny regrade).
Second letter is from Harry.
Talked about his health . And Morans ? (Marines) launched a Torpedo boat and three friends saw it. And the rest is about his health.
Papa wrote the 3rd letter a write more about Harry. Then moves onto the Alaska excitement is very quiet now. And two companies left for Tacoma and met with others to form a regiment for drill. Mentioned many are from Renton Hill and they know many of them.
He is planting a garden. Also heard about a Naval Battle and our side knocked them out and sunk some of their Battleships.
The paper has been folded and shows a few a few small tears. The actual paper is still strong for being 128 years old.
