DOLGELLAU/Dolgelley, Wales (Stereoview Stereoscope) c.1859 Francis Bedford #199This is a very rare early card as the full span of Y Bont Fawr is shown.
Part of this was removed for the railway which came in 1868.The writing on the back says Francis Bedford and a date c.1860. It also says the ref no. of“N. Wales 199”.
From the History of Stereoscopes website:\"In 1859 Bedford made stereoscopic views of North Wales, which were published by Catherall and Prichard the next year.\"
It also shows the old pub/Inn“The Hen & Chickens” and other nearby buildings.It\'s rare to see photos of these buildings as they were demolished when the railway came in 1868.
There is a also man in a top hat on the bridge, looking down on the river Wnion.
