This set features the Negro Leagues Centennial Team for the League\'s 100th Anniversary in 2,020. Each card set comes in a full color sealed box and every card is numbered to only 2,020, making this one of the most limited Negro Leagues postcard sets produced.

The Centennial Team consists of 32 individuals – 30 players, a manager and an owner. These players were the best to play in professional baseball outside of Major League Baseball (MLB) prior to integration in 1947. Committees for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown have voted nearly all the members of the Centennial Team into the Hall of Fame beginning in 1971 with Satchel Paige.

The Centennial Team features 11 pitchers, 3 catchers, 5 corner (1B, 3B) infielders, 3 inside (2B, SS) infielders, 7 outfielders, 1 utility player, a manager and an owner. It is truly an All-Time, All-Star team. The Negro Leagues teams fielded teams with short rosters – 12 to 15 players. Therefore, you could imagine this team, split in two, taking the field against each other.

Each player card measures 3.5″ x 5.5″. The front has a portrait painted by Graig Kreindler, “Painter of the National Pastime” and the 2018 Sports Artist of the year as named by the American Sports Art Museum and Archive. The reverse of the card has a brief “back story” written by Jay Caldwell concerning the player’s life and/or an event in civil rights he may have dealt with.

In addition to the 32 player cards, there is a Title Card with a brief history of the Negro Leagues and a Checklist Card.

The postcard set features the paintings of Graig Kreindler and was produced by Negro Leagues History. It is officially licensed by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM).
