Original July 28 1924 Ku Klux Klan-KKK Night Gathering Photograph-Large Assembly For Sale

Research accompanying this photograph uncovered a contemporaneous Fort Morgan Times article dated July 28, 1924, describing a large Ku Klux Klan gathering and cross-burning at Fremont Buttes northwest of Akron, Colorado. The date on the reverse of the photograph matches the newspaper report exactly. The photograph originated in the Cantrell family, who had historical ties to Washington County, Colorado. While no definitive identification is known, the photograph may depict the event described in the newspaper account.
