A UFO contactee alien abduction book!
In the book, the author claims that while working as a heavy equipment operator on the night shift in theMojave Desert, he was visited by a crew of short, uniform-wearing men who brought him onto their massive spaceship!
Core Claims of the Book - The Encounter:On July 27, 1952, Bethurum woke up from a nap during a work break near Mormon Mesa, Nevada, to find himself surrounded by 8 to 10 small extraterrestrials.
- The Spaceship:He was escorted onto a 300-foot-wide, 18-foot-deep flying saucer called\"The Admiral\'s Scow\". He claimed the ship was made of a burnished stainless steel material that floated weightlessly above the desert floor.
- Captain Aura Rhanes:On board, he met the ship\'s captain, a beautiful, voluptuous woman namedAura Rhanes. He described her as having a \"Latin\" appearance and wearing a striking outfit.
- The Planet Clarion:Captain Rhanes revealed that she and her crew hailed from a utopian world calledClarion, a planet they claimed was hidden from Earth\'s astronomers because it was perpetually on the exact opposite side of the Sun.
- The Message:Over the course of 11 distinct visits, Rhanes allegedly spoke to Bethurum about her home planet\'s peaceful way of life, while offering warnings about humankind\'s dangerous development of nuclear weapons.
Impact and Aftermath - Skepticism and Personal Cost:While the book became a cult classic among 1950s UFO enthusiasts, it was widely met with derision by the public. His claims eventually led his wife to divorce him, reportedly due to jealousy over his descriptions of the beautiful alien captain.
- The Sanctuary of Thought:Capitalizing on his newfound fame, Bethurum attempted to create a communal religious organization in Prescott, Arizona, based on the peaceful teachings of Clarion, though it failed to gain much traction before his death in 1969.
