This item is a vintage Nigerian Yoruba beaded lizard wall hanging, often used as ceremonial art or a sash.

It is handmade from cloth and decorated with intricately colored beads and cowrie shells. Similar pieces are frequently associated with the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria, sometimes representing diviner or royal attire. This one measures 54 inches in length. The shells are a little dirty however there are no missing beads except for the nose on the little face. I am not sure of the age but I think 1970s.
