Proudly Presented today is this fantastic vintage Hopi Kachina doll, depicting thevery rarely seen Mongwa Wuhti, the Owl Woman Kachina. This splendid Kachina doll dates from about 1950, and is 17 inches tall, and was carved by Wilson Kay, father of the legendary Wilmer Kaye. Wilson's career spanned over 40 years, and began in the 1940's. He has repeatedly won awards at the Hopi Show at MNA in Flagstaff, and his Kachina dolls are exhibited in museums across America. This wonderful example of his artistry stands 17 inches tall (not counting the feathers). The costume is exquisitely sewn together, a miniature replica of the actual dance costume. Despite the fact that the piece is 70 years old, it is in superb condition. It displays beautifully and would lookgreat in any Kachina doll collection. It is a classic doll, in every sense.
